There is societal excommunication happening in our country and the world. Live and let live is no longer the mantra of the left. But harass, insult, and reject anyone who does not conform to their ideals. Our “woke” citizens cause this division with the acceptance of what were previously unacceptable ideas and practices of a decent society. Divorce, adultery, homosexuality, Transgenderism, abortion, and pornography are now to be accepted as the norm.
Common Threads
The two common threads to these new norms are that they are all related to sex and personal choices. Both of which are core to the fabric of a free society.
To understand this better, we must start with the male and female sexes. Male and female are perfectly complementary beings. (By design of their creator for the necessity of each other and mankind.)
Their roles as caregivers, nurturers, providers, and protectors met the necessity of family life. However, these roles in society have changed in the last 75 years, affecting marriage, families, and especially children. The integrity and value of both sexes must always remain constant despite taking on changing or broader roles.
The family is essential to society for the continuation of the human race. When something harms the family, it is no longer a personal problem but society’s problem. Personal sin is never truly personal; it has a rippling effect.
Choices Determine Our Path
The choice of adultery may lead to irreparable harm to a marriage, leading to dysfunctional relationships with the children. A child may not see parents as guardians and protectors but as good and bad guys.
The choice of abortion ends a life that has infinite possibilities for themselves and their communities. Besides murdering the child, the mother has unwittingly harmed herself mentally as she comes to terms with her hasty choice. She may either be in denial of the truth or face the truth and carry guilt for the rest of her life. Thus affecting her relationships with future mates and, ultimately, future children.
Men have a role in abortion since their sexual involvement contributed to the pregnancy. Yet they may have no say in defending the life of that child. Their natural role of protector is taken away by the mother’s choice of terminating her pregnancy. She has stifled her natural instinct to care for and nurture her young.
The choice to purchase pornography gives money to a market that objectifies and demeans women. The natural good of the female sex, which is the ability to procreate, is defiled. This billion-dollar industry becomes a gateway to violence toward women, child trafficking, and prostitution.
Homosexuality warps the role of an individual’s gender. Same-sex couples can further warp a child’s mind if raised in that environment, not allowing a child to observe both sex’s complementary values. As well as ignoring the biblical stance on homosexuality, endangering everyone’s soul.
Transgenderism was once only considered part of mental illness. It is a rejection of the gift of their gender. It refuses the reality of science and gives in to emotions and feelings. Charlatan doctors are only too happy to take money for prescriptions and surgery to accommodate the choices of these poor souls.
Social Excommunication
All of these unacceptable choices are now laid at the foot of society, daring people of moral values to deny them the right to live contrary to moral laws. If one objects to any of these immoral practices, they are shunned and labeled as being bigoted and narrow-minded. We are now risking socially excommunicating ourselves when we stand up for principles. Politicians are being asked to codify immorality into law.
Even in Churches, we can find ourselves “canceled,” all in the name of tolerance, equity, and diversity. Are we prepared for this battle over vices? Will we defend truths or lies?
