Some people want to downplay the abortion issue this election. Either they think it does not involve them, so why argue about it, or they fear that the mere mention of the word would hurt votes for a conservative Politician. As a Christian, how can you ignore the commandment “Thou shall not kill”?
Harris stated during the debate “I absolutely support reinstating protections of Roe v. Wade.” When I hear the word “protection,” I think of stopping someone from being harmed. However, Harris is using the word “protect,” to protect a woman’s choice to kill. Harris has also been on camera stating that she will “sign into law the protections for reproductive freedom.” True reproductive freedom is the freedom to reproduce, to bear children, not to select which ones you choose to kill. China took away reproductive freedom with a deadly One Child policy. That ended in 2016.
The New York Times reported there are currently 22 states restricting abortion. There is no such thing as a total ban. There are always limits, restrictions, and loopholes to every piece of legislation.
Georgia has been battling the abortion ban issue for years. We finally got a halfway decent ban, The Heartbeat bill, aka the Life Act, a law that was voted on by our representatives, and some judge decides he can overturn it and call it unconstitutional. How screwed up is our judicial system, if one man can undo a law? Within a week of this Judge’s motion, 6 Georgia Supreme court judges stepped in (at the urging of Attorney General Chris Carr’s office), and reinstated the 6 weeks ban to protect babies while the injunction continues.
Was it any coincidence that this ruling came on the heels of pro-abortion propaganda? There was a timely (election year), story that went out about a poor woman that died because of complications from an abortion. The story blamed Georgia’s Heat beat bill. Amber Thurman traveled to N.C. to abort her twins because she was past the 6-week limit in Georgia, (when a heartbeat is detected) She had complications and was turned away at the hospital because doctors wrongly feared treating her and being charged with providing an abortion. She took the dangerous abortion pill with known deadly side effects. She died of sepsis from the dead babies.
Thanks to the FDA, 63% of all abortions are now done at home, by medication, either by mail or clinics. The FDA removed a critical safeguard, the doctor’s exam, placing women in great physical danger, or death with abortion pills. 1 in 25 women receive emergency care after taking these drugs. Over 32 women have died from these pills since 2000.
Who is ultimately responsible for Amber’s death? Doctors, a hospital, a law, or herself? She took a risk and lost. That sounds harsh, but there is no such thing as a safe abortion. They all carry risks. Abortion is always deadly for the baby, and sometimes for the mother. She posthumously becomes a poster child for “bad” laws. And here is the kicker, this happened over 2 years ago. The story was released to shut down pro-lifers and to make people pause about voting for prolife politicians.
I am so apprehensive about this election. If Harris wins, our country may not recover. Both financially and legally. Our rights will be incrementally taken away, starting with free speech and the Second Amendment. As a business owner, I will not be able to survive this continued poor economy. At this moment, my retirement account is growing, but that can change with a major catastrophe. A weak leader who is totally clueless will be easy prey for countries just waiting to start WW3 with the US.
I am not as gung-ho on Trump as I was the first time around, but he still has my vote. He will be good for the economy, as he was before. I opened my business 7 years ago because I was confident that he would be good for business. And I was right. He has stepped away from strong support for Life though. I am sure his advisors told him he could loose on that issue alone. He was smart to insist it should be a state’s issue. Harris on the other hand wants to make a federal issue of it again and bring back Roe.
The attempt on former President Trump’s life, shows the extreme hatred some have for him. We cannot continue to divide this country with hatred. We need to preserve the good that still exists. There is much good we can still do. The problem is, is anyone ready to work on it?
This weekend I headed the yearly National Life Chain, in Cleveland, Ga., as I have for over 20 years. It is a simple silent prayerful demonstration to support Life. It is the first Sunday in October. For 1 hour, once a year, we hold signs that say, “Abortion kills children”, “Abortion hurts women”, “God forgive our Nation”, “Jesus heals and forgive”, just to name a few.
I enjoy being able to freely demonstrate the Prolife position publicly on the Town square. (Though the city does require a permit.) I feel as American, and patriotic as ever. But sadly, the numbers of people participating continue to dwindle. Why? I do the same promoting as always, Letters to the Editor, radio interviews, radio public service announcements, newspaper ads, Facebook posts, and church announcements.
Has this country become lazy or complacent? Are the people taking our rights for granted? Are they afraid of standing up for a cause? Are Shepards properly tending their sheep? One of the 11 people that showed up, a lady in her 80’s who participates every year, said she had a visiting pastor that preached well this Sunday. He preached that without good works, we cannot call ourselves Christians. Amen Brother!
