SOMETIMES IF YOU LOOK HARD ENOUGH YOU CAN SEE THE FOREST FROM THE TREES
What follows in this essay are some personal observations that I have made over the last six months since President Trump was inaugurated for his second term on January 20, 2025.
Middle East Peace Prospects
Isn’t it fascinating that in just six months since Inauguration Day, the prospects for peace in the Middle East are now the brightest they have been in over a century! Recall that ever since Barack Hussein Obama and Joseph R. Biden came into power, their idea of how to curb the madness of the mullahs in Iran from getting the Bomb was continued appeasement. This included sending them massive amounts of cash in convenient currencies, packed neatly onto pallets in the middle of the night on Cargo Jets bound for Iran. President Trump flipped that notion by acting as a true Commander in Chief and signing off on a massive but limited tactical air strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities, ending the threat to the world and Israel from Iran obtaining a nuclear weapon. Score one for the good guys.
Illegal Border Crossings
For the second month in a row, there were zero, nada, zilch apprehensions of illegal immigrants attempting to come into our nation. It wasn’t very long ago when we were dealing with tens of thousands of illegals from points all over the globe invading our borders from Canda as well as Mexico weekly…. then having to listen to Alejandro Mayorkas, former head of Homeland Security, continuously lie to the American people, under oath, that the “border was closed.” Meanwhile, Sleepy Joe Biden did nothing to stop the invasion…. if he even knew it was happening in the first place!
Title IX Protections
Remarkable, isn’t it, that the University of Pennsylvania decided to strip the titles of transgender swimmer Lia Thomas and give the awards to women who rightfully earned them. I’m just “spifballing” here, but I think President Trump had something to do with that. Whadya you think? Oh, the University of Pennsylvania also decreed that, effective immediately, men will use men’s locker rooms and women will use women’s locker rooms. Wonders never cease!! I may be wrong, but I think that this has something to do with the fact that men are physiologically, psychologically, and emotionally different than women, and more importantly, our Creator kind of intended things to be that way. Of course, I could be wrong, but maybe we ought to conduct ourselves accordingly. Memo to the Presidents of the Ivy League: Wake the hell up!
Unemployment Improvements
In early July 2025, a job report showed that 147,000 jobs were added in June, lowering the unemployment rate to 4.1%. Equally, the Consumer Price Index showed inflation at 2.7%. In addition, the stock market hit an all-time high of 44,828. Wonder where all those doom and gloom economists were hiding because despite Trump’s tariffs, prices were actually coming down, not going up! So far, America has raked in about $64 billion from tariffs. Memo to all weak-kneed Economists: What Trump is doing should have been done decades ago. He is trying to level the economic playing field. And his message is as clear as day: if you charge us 30% for our products coming into your country, we will charge you 30%; if you charge us nothing, we will reciprocate. The days of America precluding us from selling our products (think cars, food, etc.) overseas because of high tariffs imposed on us are over.
SCOTUS Challenges to Deportations
On the Judicial Front, the Supreme Court approved President Trump’s plan to deport illegal immigrants to countries that are not their country of origin. At the same time, the Supreme Court ruled that lower courts cannot issue blanket national injunctions against the Executive Orders of the President of the United States. Common sense once again wins the day.
The Big Beautiful Bill
July 3, 2025, saw the final passage of the “Big Beautiful Bill” (BBB), which extends the signature Trump tax cuts of his first term and adds campaign promises such as no tax on tips and overtime, and several others as well. Incidentally, not a single democrat voted for the bill… not one! Stated another way, democrats, by not voting in support of this bill, essentially gave the middle finger to 80% of Americans because the Trump tax cuts were set to expire and would have resulted in an effective increase in taxes to all Americans north of 60%. Now the BBB is the law of the land. And it has fueled an increase in investor confidence.
NATO Defense Spending
In late June, NATO leaders agreed to Trump’s demand that they commit to spending 5% of their GDP on defense. Having witnessed the barbaric acts of Vladimir Putin against Ukraine, European nations perhaps finally got the message that if Putin succeeds in Ukraine, they could be next. And Trump is right again. Too many people are losing their lives on both sides…time to put an end to the hostilities.
FAA M0dernization
A few short months ago, the nation grieved at the loss of life resulting from a military helicopter crash with an inbound commercial flight landing at Washington National Airport. It might have been avoided had the former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg done his job and funded the needed modernization of our Air Traffic Control Systems across the United States. Instead, Pistol Pete spent tens of billions of dollars on DEI projects. Let that one sink in!
Military Recruitment
Last year, the Pentagon was bewildered by the inability to meet recruitment goals for our military services. This confounded Generals and Admirals, and they could not come to grips with why young men and women were upset with “Drag Queen” parties on military bases (offered to families, mind you) and attending lectures about the use of proper pronouns. Enter Pete Hegseth as the new Secretary of Defense and…. wouldn’t you know it…. all the goals have already been reached six months into Trump’s second term. There are no more classes on Woke ideology, Racial sentiments, and Drag Queen parties. Today, our military is now laser-focused on warfighting. Funny how a change in leadership at the top can make all the difference.
Democrats in Disarray
You would think that with all these accomplishments, the Democratic Party would wake up and reassess its approach to representing the people. Sadly, you would be wrong. Democrats continue to deal in fear mongering, lies, intentional misleading statements, and they lead the world in TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome…a dangerous and persistent disorder of undiagnosed origins, which engulfs one’s ability to think clearly and act responsibly.) There is no more glaring evidence of this than the support for one Zohran Mamdani, an anti-Semite, Jew Hating imbecile. He is a pure communist masquerading as a democratic socialist. Mr. Mamdani is now running for Mayor of the City of New York! Astonishing! Zohran gives a new meaning to this term. It is perhaps the most glaring oxymoron in political history. It defies description and affirms the undeniable fact that Mr. Mamdani perhaps never took a college class in American history. New York City is where I grew up and received two advanced degrees. But I hate what NYC has become under liberal democrat leadership. My hope is that NYC can find someone better than this young, brash pseudo-intellectual without an ounce of experience or accomplishment in his background, and even less in his brain, to run the largest and most renowned city in the world. His professed policies of reducing the police budget, cutting police staff, establishing city-run grocery stores to give out free food, closing prisons because he cannot understand “their purpose,” and several other “policies” border on the criminally insane. Someone wrote this prophetic thought, which appeared in a New York Post Letters to the Editor…” if you rearrange the letters in Mamdni’s name, it really tells you who and what he is…” I, Madman.” What he is saying should tell you all you need to know!
Democratic Socialism Desperation
There is no such thing as a free lunch, or free food, or free medicine, or anything free. Someone has to pay for it. Our nation is built on the economic principle of capitalism because it is the best financial system ever conceived by man, and has provided the foundation and engine for the economic growth of our country. It is the greatest economy known to man in the span of 250 years! Socialism, on the other hand, is an economic system that has worked well in…zero countries…every time it has been tried. Don’t believe me? Think Russia, Cuba, Venezuela, Chile, Argentina (under Juan and Evita Peron), and a host of others. Capitalism has fostered innovation and risk-taking taking which leads to growth. If you want to learn why socialism doesn’t work, read the thoughts of the great leaders of our time:
“Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the appeal of envy. Its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.”
‘The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries.”
Sir Winston Churchill
“Nothing in this world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.”
Martin Luther King, Jr.
Solving Our Problems, Not New Ones
America is not perfect. We have our problems. But our problems are all man-made, which means they can be solved by men and women of character, intelligence, and faith. Today, our most glaring problem is the fact that we are a nation divided by a two-party system where one party hates and despises the leader of the other party, and that is a blueprint for disaster. To Democrats and Republicans alike, I suggest that we need a “Come to Jesus” meeting behind closed doors to air viewpoints and discuss getting back to the principles upon which this nation was founded and molded, with the overriding theme being that collectively their allegiance is not to any party but to the land and the people they serve. To that end, consider this closing quotation from one Edwin Everitt Hale:
“Coming together is a beginning.
Keeping together is progress.
Working together is success.”
Just think how much healthier, stronger, and financially sound we would be if the people we elected to serve us in Congress and the Senate owed their allegiance to us as was conceived by our Founders. Just think, all of this has been accomplished in six short months of a four-year term. The best is yet to come!
We need to get there once again!
