Defunding Planned Parenthood

In July, Congress passed a law (part of the Big Beautiful Bill), which President Trump signed into law, prohibiting any organization from receiving Medicaid funding if they are killing preborn babies.  It is in effect for 1 year.  Since Planned Parenthood is the largest single abortion facility in the nation, it stands to lose the most money.

Judicial Maneuvering

U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani immediately issued an injunction against the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to stop this restriction.  She claims that healthcare for women will suffer, unplanned pregnancies will rise, and so will the rate of Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).

Writing for the National Review last week, Carrie Severino, president of the Judicial Crisis Network, concluded that Talwani’s various legal analyses are weak and fail to present coherent arguments.  “Judge Talwani’s ever-lengthening attempts to defend her judgment are a clear example of judicial overreach—complete with legal theories untethered from precedent and constitutional analysis that reads more like wishful thinking than rigorous jurisprudence,”

Severino, a former clerk for Justice Clarence Thomas, also noted, “Her handling of the Planned Parenthood funding case is a textbook case of judicial overreach.”

Judge Talwani may have been the first to bring legal action against the withholding of Medicaid funding to abortion clinics, but she is not the last.  Led by democratic Gov. Josh Shapiro, 22 States and the District of Columbia have followed her lead.

Sad Facts About Planned Parenthood

The sad fact is that Planned Parenthood makes most of its money from killing babies.  Defunding them takes the responsibility of paying for abortions off of the US taxpayers.  Taxpayers have given Planned Parenthood over 500 million a year for decades!  If Planned Parenthood really cared about women, it would stop killing their children.

Planned Parenthood audits showed that from 2005 to 2013, cancer screenings dropped by 53% (Pap smears?).  There was also a 42% reduction in breast exams and breast care.  (Not to be confused with mammograms.  They do not have that equipment.)

Cecile Richards, Planned Parenthood president and CEO, earning a salary of $600,000 annually, ascertains that the nearly 390 million from Medicaid supports “preventive care”.  What is preventive care?  Prescriptions for contraceptives?  In 2014, it was reported that Planned Parenthood made $127 million over expenses.  They also spent more than 5 million on travel expenses.  (First class and private chartered planes.)

Ms. Richards has also stated to Congress that Planned Parenthoods are located in rural areas where medical services for the poor are limited.  This may account for nearly half of Planned Parenthood’s locations.  The most profitable locations are in large metropolitan areas where they can reach the most women (or just on the outskirts of town).

The Real Agenda

This also appears to continue Margaret Sanger’s (founder of Planned Parenthood) eugenic mentality by targeting black women.  The ratio of abortions compared to live births is higher overall in black women than in white women.  While blacks make up approximately 13% of the population, they account for nearly half of all abortions.  4 times higher than white women.

Judge Talwani may be right about the risk of a rise in pregnancies due to women not using proper contraceptives.  However, she ignores the fact that there are plenty of other facilities for women to use to get contraceptives, which do not perform abortions.

The Real Risks to Women

STD numbers rise with the rise of sexual activity.  The only thing to guarantee STDs will not be contracted, or unplanned pregnancies will not occur, is abstinence.  Providing women with a license to have casual sex is what contraception does.  All while increasing their risk of STDs, which the pill does not protect against, or an unplanned pregnancy due to its failure.

The more partners you have, the higher the risk of STDs and cervical cancer.  Cervical cancer is caused by the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), an STD.  Most HPV infections can clear up on their own, but persistent infections can lead to cancer over time.

It is also noted that the number one reason women cite for having an abortion is a failed contraceptive.  There you have it.  A cycle of money that Planned Parenthood benefits from.  Selling contraceptives knowing sooner or later they will fail.  It is not due to a medical emergency or rape.  Those account for less than 5% of abortions.  Most single women are just not ready to have a child.  Their casual treatment of their sexual power entraps them.  The gift of motherhood and procreation is totally ignored.  Tragically, they have no idea the lifelong psychological damage this “simple“ abortion procedure can cause, not to mention the loss of an innocent life.

Solutions for Women

If Planned Parenthood really cared about women, it would stop doing abortions and give them the genuine medical care they need.  But that would not be profitable, would it?

Humans must respect their sexuality and not abuse it.  Until society gives up the casual sex mentality, it will not be able to truly defend life.
