We live in strange and dystopian times when you can see just about anything, and if you are not careful, you can begin to think the abnormal is normal. No matter how much you hope for utopian times, they just are not here.
Just Bizarre
My wife and I are dog lovers and have always had one or two around the house for the past fifty years. However, we understand that dogs are not people, and we draw a pretty hard line when it comes to anthropomorphic behavior. Our dogs are great friends and companions, and at times protectors, but they are dogs. We probably go overboard with treats, but we do not dress them in tutus and take them to parades, nor do they have birthday parties. That is a bridge too far.
So, imagine our surprise yesterday when we were leaving Huddle House after breakfast and ran into a couple putting their three dogs into baby strollers. We assume that they were taking the dogs into the restaurant with them. Knowing how our dogs shed, we were happy to be done and on our way. Bacon and eggs with a side of dog hair does not sound like a way to kick off the day.
The dogs were cute, clean, and we assume pampered beyond belief. But the last time I checked, dogs can walk and do not belong in baby carriages or restaurants. But it is a strange world out there.
I thought that was the surprise for the day, only to discover that strange forces are at work in our Country. If dogs can ride in baby strollers, sinners can repent and see the light. If dogs should ride in baby strollers and eat in restaurants, then pigs should be allowed to fly.
Confession is Good for the Soul
When I returned home, I needed to look up something on YouTube, and as often happens, some random video will appear. And right before my eyes was Jessica Tarlov interviewing Hillary Clinton on the Raging Moderates Podcast. Hillary looked sad and tired, with no quaffed hair and no fancy makeup. She just looked old, miserable, and exhausted.
And then I heard the quote of a lifetime, straight out of the mouth of President Trump’s primary adversary.
“If he could end [the war in Ukraine], without putting Ukraine in a position where it had to concede its territory to the aggressor, had to, in a way, validate Putin’s vision of greater Russia, but instead could really stand up to Putin… I’d nominate him for a Nobel Peace Prize.”
Hillary Clinton
This little snippet froze me in my tracks. I replayed the video several times to be sure I heard it correctly, and it was not an AI clip. But there it was. It is a bit of a backhanded compliment, but from Hillary Clinton, that is about as good as you get.
On my second or third time through, I noticed that she had put several parameters on her endorsement, but Clintons are hard to pin down, and this was a significant admission. I remember the famous “It depends on what your definition of ‘is’ is.” by President Clinton. “Slick Willie” at his best.
But why would Hillary Clinton, of all people, give an endorsement, even if a qualified endorsement, of President Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize?
And then I remembered.
The Revelations
Back in July, DNI Director Tulsi Gabbard released a report spelling out how President Obama’s team concocted and coordinated the effort to discredit President Trump in 2016. But the big revelation in the report for me was confirmation that not just the Clinton Campaign, but Hillary Clinton herself had authorized the deception. Also pulled into the conversation is President Obama. But it seems unclear if his Presidential immunity would shield him from prosecution if it is proven that he was involved.
Before we were looking at serious allegations against CIA Director John Brennan, FBI Director James Comey, and DNI Director James Clapper. Now the cabal is much broader and includes many more top Obama officials. This seems to have been coordinated from the top.
There were reports last week that the Department of Justice had convened multiple grand juries in various locations across the country to expedite the evaluation of evidence. This also takes the review out of the hands of Washington bureaucrats and puts it back in the hands of ordinary citizens. If true, this is a refreshing development given the decades of D.C. corruption.
Preemptive Moves, Evasive Politicians
President Trump has accused the former officials of a treasonous and seditious conspiracy that undermined his first term. This led to years of leaky investigations and false indictments, prompting many to question the integrity of the government.
There are statutes of limitations issues with many who might be charged for lesser offenses, such as lying to Congress. But there are many more issues than just the exposure of the crimes. This will destroy reputations and careers, for a narcissistic politician, a fate worse than death.
The last person to be convicted of treason was Mildred Sisk for her role in radio broadcasts aimed at demoralizing American troops just before D-Day. In the United States, treason can carry a sentence of death, imprisonment, fines, and disqualification from any political office. Sedition is a lesser offense, but severe. It carries a sentence of up to twenty years and a fine of up to $250,000.
And then there is the Clinton Foundation and its pay-for-play schemes. Could the Clintons, all three, be guilty of tax evasion and corruption? We will see in the coming weeks and months. Then there are the “pay-to-play” accusations for the Clinton Foundation. Many believe it was nothing more than a mechanism for funneling money to the Clintons, tax-free. We do not know if this will be a part of the investigation, but I hope so.
The Fate Worse than Death
For most of these people, the fate they want to avoid is being labeled a traitor or conspirator and having their historical reputation destroyed. The extreme egos and corruption are about to be open for all to see. For them, their reputation is their life.
For Presidents Obama and Clinton, and Secretary Clinton being labeled a traitor, even if you avoid jail, places you in a category below President Nixon. You might not go to jail, but every accomplishment in your life will have a footnote referencing your misdeeds. Their Presidential libraries will be like Nixon’s, with sections devoted to transgressions. Hillary Clinton’s misdeeds may prove to be the worst of all, something no footnote can justify.
Will we see justice in this bizarre case? Who knows. Even if we do not see justice, will we at least see labeling of the guilty with a Scarlet T or S? I have now seen dogs in baby strollers and Hillary Clinton beg for mercy. So maybe I will live to see pigs fly, hell freeze over, and frogs grow hair.
