The Impossibility of Worldly Perfection

Many of us believe that the world will not change so long as this world endures.  There will be good days and bad days.  Goodness and the Kingdom of God versus those who need or tolerate guidance, as in the Communist countries.  Today, Cuba, North Korea, Vietnam, Laos, and China are all considered communistic.

The country that lives with or is despotically controlled used to include Russia until they insisted that they are not.  That observation is still up for further investigation.

Man is made for eternity, or put another way, the destiny of man will not be completed within the existence of our little world.  Because of the sins that we inflict upon ourselves, we will suffer in this little world of ours.  We should not expect perfection in human beings or the governments of any communist country until this world fades away.  Until God finishes our next world, we will exist in the good, the bad, and the ugly world we live in.

As fleshly creatures, we are not able to exist in a sinless world.  But only when we put off mortality can we love and understand and share the perfection of God.  It is one of the punishments of our sins that we would not realize the perfect human nature or a perfect society.  Man, as we know him, is the average sensual human and is perpetually discontented.  As someone said some time ago, the grass is always greener on the other side.  Man is naturally envious, rebellious, and proud.  If ever the average sensual man found himself untransformed by death and/or immortality in a perfect society, we would set to work immediately abolishing that perfect society.  And that is reality, because mortal man is always bored when something does not change.

It has been an observation by many that Jesus was crucified by his people because He dared to be like us, and He was crucified.  Here on earth, we destroy perfect things.  It is only in another world than this that we will follow the path that God has pointed out, wherein we will find life without sin.

In essence, then, the Christian faith is this: God exists as a stern judge but a loving father to all mankind.  Man has been made in God’s image, but man, an imperfect image of God, torments himself by his tendency to sin.

The revelations by God establish the way in which humans are to live with each other.  Justice, peace, and charity all flow from God’s commandments.  Christ will redeem from sin the human who accepts God as his savior.  The reward of loving obedience to God is eternal life, perfection beyond this world.  If we are to know any freedom from the suffering in this world, then we need to accept God’s love.  And through the acceptance of God’s love, we can free ourselves from the pain and suffering in this world.

The spirit will survive the flesh, and when the end of all things arrives, those who love God will discover a peace of mind that we have never had.  People who expect to create a heaven on earth (like the communists) are only kidding themselves and can only realize hell on earth.

Christian morality is the cement of American life, and as well the Christian concepts of life: natural law, natural rights, and necessary limitations to human ambitions all govern our politics and even our economic systems.

Such is the Christian creed.

Whether one subscribes to this religious faith or not, this is the spiritual framework upon which American society was built.

It is a fact of history that Christ’s apostles did not always follow His preaching.  That not all Americans follow Christ’s parameters is no secret.

Our American society is not perfect, and despite its failings, the fact remains that it works.  Suppose we commit to the continued efforts to follow the path set down by God, which is all we can and should do.  Know that we are God’s people and that if we follow His parameters, we will eventually realize that we will all be in Heaven together.

So, keep learning His message, reading His Bible, and helping others do the same, and one day we will all be together.
