The word delulu (d lu lu) is internet slang for delusional, and more specifically, the delusion that you can influence your destiny through willpower alone. The word delulu is used in a derogatory manner to refer to a delusional person or a delusional scheme.
“Jesse was so delulu he thought he could become a doctor by watching lots of surgical videos.”
“If you think TikTok influencers are always smart, you are delulu.”
“Celebrities who advocate for the ‘fake it until you make it’ path to success are delulu.”
Eloign ( e loin) is a transitive verb from Old English that means to take someone or yourself far away for concealment. Sometimes it is used to mean taking oneself out of the reach of law enforcement. It is no longer in use, so somewhat archaic, but a good word to get some head scratchers.
“George retired to a small cabin in the woods so that he could eloign himself from all the big city noise and confusion.”
“Patty eloigned herself two counties away to take herself out of reach of the local sheriff.”
“On the Appalachian Trail, hikers often eloign themselves from others by getting off the trail at night.”
These two are tough to use together, or they were for me. But here are some examples.
“She kept acting delulu about her ‘secret plan,’ but everyone knew she was planning to eloign to Florida.”
“They wanted to eloign the team from any blame, yet their delulu explanations fooled no one.”
“The girls giggled with so much delulu energy that their eloign scheme became laughable.”
