Humble Pie

It helps cleanse the soul from time to time to eat a little humble pie when you are wrong.  So, I am here to get a generous slice.

Back on December 23, 2022, I wrote an article titled Looking Forward, Not Back in which I stated that I thought it was time for both President Trump and President Biden to step aside gracefully and usher in the next generation of politicians.

But a lot happened in 2023 and 2024 that changed my opinion and I am here to take my lashes.

President Trump

I do not know anyone who could have withstood the adversity imposed on President Trump and continued to fight.  He has been legally persecuted, vilified in the media, and shot.  Still, he is standing tall and has conquered all his critics to win the 2024 election.

He will be one of the only Presidents to serve two nonconsecutive terms, and he did it in spectacular style.  Having won over 300 Electoral College votes and the popular vote he distinguishes himself as the best politician in the last fifty years.

If the Republicans can capture the House of Representatives in addition to the Senate, he will have a clear mandate to set the nation on a good and sustainable path.  Even with both houses of Congress his battles will be many and ferocious.  The Democrats are already gearing up for the fight and some are doubling down on their far-left agenda again.  Apparently, they cannot read the electorate and are willing to fall on their swords for their social justice agenda.

President Biden

The Democrats would have done well to take my advice.  President Biden was too old to run, and voters made that clear.  They waited too long to make a change, anointed Kamala Harris without a vote, and tried to shame traditional Democrat voters into voting for her.

President Biden’s internal polling showed he would lose in a landslide, with President Trump taking as many as 400 electoral votes.  This forced Nancy Pelosi and President Obama to kick Joe aside for Vice President Harris.   It appears that this angered both President Biden and Jill Biden, not a good plan for internal peace and cooperation.  At times it seemed that the Bidens were undermining Harris’ campaign and when Jill Biden wore a red dress to vote the message was clear.

President Obama and others of his era should exit the political stage. They proved to be out of touch with voters, and their brand of identity politics has come and gone.

We Are All Winners

Hopefully from this change we get more sound finances, a closed border, the death of DEI, and all the drag queens out of our children’s classrooms.  The American people have spoken and let’s hope Washington listens.

Hopefully my articles praising President Trump in recent months help redeem my earlier transgression.  Please take a look at them:
